50 Miles

The Avalon 50 was last weekend on January 14.

Course Map.
Catalina has NO flat areas.
Somehow, Pepper conned me into doing it.

Mile 27 with Pepper.
Between Joel & Joe, 12 of us did this thing.  Idiots, the lot of us!

I cannot begin to say how great it was to see this sign.
And as warped as it is to say... I had fun.

Thanks to Joe & everyone from BARK.

What could go better on a hot day at mile 27?
Twelve of us entered this beast; twelve of us finished this beast.
Conner, Chris, Joe, John, & Charlie.
Including, by the way, the youngest entrant and finisher:  Jack Bark.

(By the way, can't wait to see the photos from Chris Aguilar & Joe Bark.  This was an amazing day with an amazing crew.)

Coming up for air

This weekend is the Avalon 50.  Pretty sure I'll be wishing I was doing this, instead.

The Magic of the 808

No witty sarcasm.  Just:  MAGIC.

Right on.
All photos from a simple point-and-shoot disposable camera.  As I said:  MAGIC.

My Favorite Animal

My Favorite Animal

Our teacher asked what my favorite animal was, and I said, "Fried chicken."

She said I wasn't funny, but she couldn't have been right, because everyone else laughed. My parents told me to always tell the truth. I did. Fried chicken is my favorite animal. I told my dad what happened, and he said my teacher was probably a member of PETA.

He said they love animals very much. I do, too. Especially chicken, pork and beef. Anyway, my teacher sent me to the principal's office.

I told him what happened, and he laughed, too. Then he told me not to do it again.

The next day in class my teacher asked me what my favorite live animal was.

I told her it was chicken. She asked me why, so I told her it was because you could make them into fried chicken.

She sent me back to the principal's office. He laughed, and told me not to do it again.

I don't understand. My parents taught me to be honest, but my teacher doesn't like it when I am.

Today, my teacher asked us to tell her what famous person we admire most. I told her, "Colonel Sanders." Guess where I am now...

Inaugural Lighthouse Run 2012!

Welcome to 2012.  To ring in the New Year, a run out to the Lighthouse buoy followed by a surf off the point with the SUPs, grommets, beginners, and assorted riff-raff.  Got a few fun ones, but I blew it on the Go Pro.  I was trying to video, and ended up turning it off every time I caught a wave and on when I kicked out.  Well done, idjit.

Hello Lighthouse buoy.  Welcome to 2012.

SMALL (TINY) bumps coming in.

Hi fellas.

Fun little wave.
Wait...
What's that nose coming into the corner.
Don't they know I can't steer this thing?!
What are you doing.........

Garrr... snake!
Got a bunch more after this.  It was a good time.  These were just the few surfing shots I got.
